With the cold weather, our Bream have arrived for Alder Pool.
A few hundred beautiful fish have been added to the lake.

Winter months means MAINTENANCE. 1st up, our toil

Winter months means MAINTENANCE.
1st up, our toilet and shower blocks are having a mini refurbishment.
New floors, seals, and deep clean.

We are really proud of our facilities and think they are some of the best for a budget site.

Everything is done with the environment in mind, so no chemicals, only earth/water friendly products. Recycled products only and we try to have a zero land fill policy on all our refits. Where possible.

Everyone meet Stan. 24lbs 15ozs (not a newbie)

Mark is the 1st person who has been lucky enough to have their fish chipped and named.
As part of our bigger picture we are trying to get all the fish in the specimen lake micro-chipped. This means we can track their weight over the years, see how often they're banked and have a very good idea of how many we have. We started it all off with our Priory newbies last week. (you can't track where they are in the lake, they aren't GPS!)
Of course the chipping will only be done by ourselves and there are very strict rules in place for when. We will be setting it all up properly over the winter. With scanners, white boards, info ect.
This does mean that if next year you bank a fish, its not chipped AND not a pre named fish i.e Carrott/Pirate etc. Then you will get the pleasure of naming her/him. This means in the future if anyone banks them, they will see the name when scanned.

No silly names or rude/offensive ones will be allowed. We have the right to veto.

Please keep an eye out on social media for a proper message about it all and how it will work.

So we did have 1 more fish stocked by @prioryfishery and she is a very special common indeed (they are all special).
She's now the biggest confirmed in the lake at 33lbs 11ozs and totally gorgeous.
We really can't wait too see how she gets on and track her progress over the coming years.

This brings our 4 year restocking plan to a close, we are so very proud of all our fish and think we have a fantastic mix of weights.
We close on the 1st November for the winter break, but we do still have lots of availability over the school holidays.

***NEW FISH STOCKING***
We are incredibly excited to reveal our new specimen carp for 2023. These gorgeous commons are from Priory Fishery based in Devon. Tom came down to the lake yesterday to drop off our freshmen fish and we couldn't be more pleased. These 10 are the last carp we will be stocking in our lake and this now takes our total to 141.
They've all been micro-chipped, which means that tracking their progress in the lakes, will be ALOT easier.
We will talk later about the micro-chipping and how this is tracked.

We are really proud to be a finalist in this years

We are really proud to be a finalist in this years Bristol Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards, especially as its for Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award category.

We have worked so hard to ensure that we are working in harmony with our surroundings, over the past 3 years, that its wonderful to be recognised for it. We use nothing but vegan, biodegradable/earth/water friendly cleaning products, bin bags, toilet paper. Our lakes are maintained using no chemicals, natural methods only. No artificial baits, No single use plastics allowed. You can actually see the difference, from when we 1st started, with nature returning and small wildlife now thriving.

We are 100% on our own water source, which is filtered throu charcoal. Even our sewage waste is treated through 2 treatment plants and a 300metre gravel reed bed. We use solar/led lighting where possible, showers and lights are on timer switch to save on energy use. We have solar powered aerators for the lakes. Ev charge points.

We believe in being as responsible as possible and having recycling across the site, all our new buildings are made using recycled, second hand materials, local sourced, as much as possible.
We work with local food producers for all our food pops ups and even give the land over to grazing for our local shepherdess, during the quieter months. We hold our annual BurtonFete, which is a celebration of all things local, food, music, drinks, crafts and even raising money for our community charities.

To us being "green" simply isn't about installing some solar panels and doing recycling, but it should run across every single thread of what you do, how you do it and where it comes from.

A week off has been good for the brain and soul. Lots of walks, food, and generally relaxing.
The boys have had the best time, running on beaches, LOTS of sea swimming, and being fussed over by everyone they met.

Jersey was lovely, but now it's time to return home to what looks like a beautiful weekend.

We're still open till the end of Nov. With firepits for hire, lots of wood and ice creams in the freezer.

We have swim 2 on kingfisher lake free this weekend and Alder Pool will be available for day fishing.

October is a beautiful month, with autumn coming throu, gorgeous mornings, and those last few warm rays of sunshine.

Gareth got treated to a much needed day out fishing by one of our regular fishermen, to Durleigh.
A lovely relaxing day was topped off by both catching at the same time.

The weather is looking good for this Friday 15th and Saturday 16th.
Our outdoor cinema is all set to go. Burgers on Friday night and Exmoor Pizza pod are back for Saturday. We will be running a £2.50 bar, with snacks and street bean coffee will be on hand for your hot drinks and boozy hot chocolates.
All you need to bring is something to sit on and a blanket/jumper
Tickets available to buy on the day from the door. £10 for 1 movie or £16 for both.

Its been wonderful having Exmoor Pizza Pod with us this summer and they have enjoyed it so much, they will be back next summer for all your pizza needs!
